Hobby Knob Octavia
JSBA Registered

Meet Hobbyknob Octavia. She is the 2008 lamb of Painted Rock Gabrielle. She is the busy body of the flock. Octavia has 2 nicely balanced horns and the eye patches of her sire Hosea. Her fleece is dense. I will try and loosen that up next year with a ram with looser more open locks.

Sire: Painted Rock Hosea
Dam: Painted Rock Gabriell

Border Leicesters, Long Wools and other breeds
Our Border Leicester Ram

Blue Faced Leicester Ram

Featherstone is a Blue faced Leicester lamb ram from Wool N Wood farm in Ohio. After purchasing a BFL/BL ewe lamb last year from Humbug Farm in Holly Springs, NC I knew I had to add more of this to my flock. I am putting him on Cotton (bfl/bl) Squirt (cots/bl), Laverne (bl) and Sunstar (cots). He is an attractive ram with fine/lustrous fiber. A little dirty now but nothing that can't be scoured out after shearing. Can't wait to see what these lambs look like

Border Leicester Ewe

Registered Border Leicester ewe "Ethel." This lovely fleeced BL ewe lamb has a brown spot on her right flank so was unregisterable and destined for the meat market. Since I am crossing with a BFL ram and am primarily interested in fleece, I brought her home with the others.

Cotswold Ewe - Sunstar

Sunstar is my one and only 100% Cotswold ewe. She has an open, lustrous fleece, good mothering instinct and as true to the Cotswold breed is very gentle and tame. I had planned on more colored Cotswold ewes but it seems I found some other sheep I like also so I had to draw the line. She was a triplet but has never had more than twins.

Sire: Critter Crossing C02736
Dam: Twin Maples C01574

Moorit Coriedale and half Cotswold - Stella

Stella - DOB 3/09

Sire: Riddick(wellspring farm)
Dam: Squirt

FOR SALE: Although Stella has Cotswold from her dam she is expressing the fine crimp of the moorit corriedale. Her fleece is brown on the tips but dark chocolate on the inside. She only has to be sheared once a year! Yea! You can see her ram at www.wellspringfarm.com. I have added another breed this past year and have decided to sell Stella. Her britch has become more coarse as she has gotten older but she still ends up with about 6-8 pounds of med/fine fleece after skirting. Stella is registered with the Natural Colored Wool Growers Association..

Coopworth - Coop

Coop

This is Coop the Coopworth wether. He is getting up there in age but always produces a nice large white fleece. Even at 10 his fleece made some wonderful yarn and batts. He was one of my first sheep so
he is growing old here. He always feels lite as a feather when that fleece comes off!
